Last Saturday I supported a few of my friends during their annula self-flagration known here as the Inferno Triathlon.
It's really swim, bike, MtB, Run(climb). Except for the 3.1km swim it's all pretty psycho. I've done the two bike events on seperate days, and I've never done the full road bike part in a single day.
Just for fun here are the stats:
Lake Swim: 3.1km (1.92 mi)
Road Bike: Distance 97 km ( 60.27 mi), Climbs 2145 m (7037 ft)
Mountain Bike: Distance 30 km ( mi) Climbs1180 m (3871 ft)
Mountain Run: 25 km (15.53 mi)  Climbs 2175 m (7136 ft) - It ends ate the Shilthorn where "On Her Majasty's Secret Service"  with T. Savalas was filmed.
Some seriously crazy people. My friends did it in teams of four. I've considered the road bike part, but it really hurts - A LOT!

I llive about a half mile from the start, and I've been needing a good reason to get my butt in shape again.!
Tell you what, you pick a leg, I'll do one of the bike legs and find two other people to complete the team.
Seriously, you ever try running or riding above 5000 feet? 1 word - ouch!
The invite is open.

Actually I live in Thun. I moved here about 6 years ago.
Right in the old city.  We even have our own castle.
Have you visited?

Thanks E-3.
I kept an eye on this place. I was just hoping that R1 wold take the hint and can their hosting service. Supposedly, they are changing to another service. I think most of us would have been happy just to go back to the old and unimproved service.
I'll  be around and look forward to chatting with you.

It's a bit of a long story, but I'll try to keep it short. I began work for the US office back in 2000. We were doing the upper level software for a new system; the hardware, machine code and database were being developed in Switzerland. In 2003 I had the opportunity to make a change in my life (read as divorce). I had the chance to move here for what at the time was thought to be 1-2 years. During my first year the company decided to stop software development in the US and consolidate it all here. No longer having a job to return to, I decided to hang around as long as things stayed interesting. I'm still here.
