New engine for Dodge Intrepid     $7,000 installed   . There are no rebuilts.    Transmission rebuild   $2050  with tax.  Told my dumb son-in-law not to buy that car 3 years ago. It was used at the time. Guess who had to pay for it?  Engine 2 years ago, transmission 2 weeks ago.

And a Jeep forum.

Who'd a thunk that an $80 injector could cause so much misery, despair and woe.

I was definitely praying to Obama that it was a load of bad fuel. My prayers were not answered.

However, the new motor is running better than the old motor. My problem, technically, was not a Dodge issue. It was a Cummins issue.

Six of this half a dozen of smoe other, I reckon.

I don't know $h!t from apple butter when it comes to Dodges........

But a buddy has one of those Chrysler 300's. SRT8 I think he calls it. It's got a Hemi in it. He's monkeyed with the thermostat and cooling fans, jacked with the ECM. He's replaced the torque converter with a hi-stall unit, put some headers, low restriction exhaust and cat's on it.

It'll go.

Burn the Goodyears right off it from a standing start......pulls like gangbusters all the way throught the power band. His kid takes it out to Houston Raceway Park. Says on a cool night with pump gas and street tires it'll run 12.20's-12.30's @ 115mph.

I believe it.

$7000? That's 1/2 of what I paid for my '03 Intrepid that runs smooth as silk. I miss the sound of those old Chrysler starters myself. Seriously thinking of tradin' in the Intrepid for a R/T Challenger 6-speed manual .  MOPAR or NOCAR!

I believe one would have to be a tranny to drive an early '90's Dodge.

Just sayin'.

Just curious.
With all that has happened to our "American" manufacturers this year do you think Petty going to Ford has anything to do with the changes at Chrysler?

I am thinking yes....and wondering how much GM, FORD and MOPAR will be doing to assist their teams.
While many dislike Totota being a part of FRANCECAR they seem to be the one manufacturer still providing a lot of support to their teams.
BTW where are you in NM?  The Mrs. and I just returned from Alba.  We were married there 22 years ago and returned to celebrate our anniversary.  Drove up to Santa Fe on the 5th and had breakfast in the LaFonda room at the hotel on the square!
