For those of you who aren't aware, the IIHL is having it's world championships here in Switzerland. Last night I was wishing that I had tickets for the Swiss vs USA game. That was until about 7minutes into the first period when David Beckes assulted Julien Sprunger.  Sprunger hada slipped and was off-balance and Beckes delived one of the hardest hits I've ever seen. Sprunger was carried off the ice on a stretcher and straigh to the hospital Beckes was handed 5/20 for boarding. Another uneeded foul put USA down two men and the Swiss finally capialized with just 7 seconds remaining in the power-play. Later in the first, the situation was revered as the US found themselves 2 men up, but another pointless foul cut it to a single man advantage.
The Swiss ultimately won 4-3 as the US decided to play hockey in the 2nd and 3rd. Unfortunately for the Swiss they were eliminated as Latvia was the 4th team in the group to advance.

Canada, Russia and Finnland appear to be the class of the championship.
