They never got to one lap to go????

I thought that they had to be on the final lap before a wreck could end the race. During all the crashing and wrecking they were still with two laps to go, never crossed the finish line to get to one to go. If they never got to one to go, how could they end the race?

They already ended up running 3 extra laps. If there was another GWC there would have been at least 4 more laps. That would have been 7 extra laps for a total of 17.5 miles. A lot of cars would have been running out of fuel.
Ironically, had they let the race run out under caution after the lap 185 race Martin would have been a lot closer to Johnson.

They only get one shot athe GWC in Cup and McMurry did take the white, barely, but he got it. I actually think the flagman drug his feet just a millysecond befor throwing the yellow to make sure it was into the white, but that is my opinion, not fact.

I know I'm a minority, but I'm not a big fan of the "over-time" GWC.
Especially on plate tracks.

Maybe it works better in the trucks because the drivers have more to lose. They actually have to think about the cost of a rebuild or new build. It just seems in Cup that today's drivers (in general) have no regard for the cost of wrecking.
Just my opinion - probably not even 2cents worth.
