I had heard about this from a friend of mine. I just thought he was elaborating about Ray being protective of his favorite female driver. Seems as though during a practice/testing session a few months back, his boy tapped on her and passed her. He got a serious reprimand and was told to stay behind her. Now that Mayfield threw the lid away that was covering this big ole coffee can full of dirty little worms, it all makes sense.
Yeah, she may can drive, but she didn't have to pull up her skirt to get the ride she wanted. Now that she has gotten it, what is Ms. Crocker going to do when some of the guys pass their opinion in the pitts and on the track? Run to Ray saying they are being out of line and sue them for harrassment? I am sure that if it weren't for most of the veteran drivers having to "maintain an image" it would definitely make for an interesting season. If rubbing and bumping were still a part of the Cup series, it would probably be even more interesting. If the men don't respect you, what do you have left? You can only lift that skirt so many times and then "it" gets a really bad rep and bit on the worn out side.
Maybe in Rays' eyes it's because she's young. A lot of older men like the young women, they are "fresh minds that can be trained and molded into what is desired". UUMMMMMM..... HERE'S YOUR SIGN! One day, the young ladies turn into women, quickly get tired of diaper duty, being a soccer mom and screaming kids and clean his clock.
