No Indy 500 for Montoya?
1/20/2007 12:20 PM
New NASCAR driver #42-Juan Pablo Montoya is back with Chip Ganassi's organization, for whom he won the 2000 Indianapolis 500, but that doesn't mean he is likely to return for this year's race. "I want to really focus myself at the moment on stock cars," Montoya said. "If Chip would come and say, 'I want you to do it (Indy 500)' . . . I don't know. Been there, done that."(Indy Star)(1-20-2007)

Good for Montoya. Why risk killing yourself in those crappy cars just for a trophy you already have?

It's a non-issue. Until the start time for the IRL 500 is fixed, no NASCAR drivers will participate. No Robby Gordon. No Tony Stewart. No Juan Pablo Montoya. No Casey Mears. No one. Since TG has fund cars to fill out the field anyway, you would think he would be smart enough to do it for drivers that might actually get someone to notice the race.

Ah well.

Smart and Tony George are two words that shouldn't be in the same sentence.
