Disscuss how God is possible and not how evolution is not possible......just to prove the point and sstay on track .

TT- this is somewhat to let you be the bull in the China shop.  I know that there are probably many that are willing to accept blind faith without studying it.  The cliche " God said it, I believe it, that settles it" sums these folks up.
My Christian belief is based on the doctrines that gave birth to science and that is to test teachiong to see if they are true and the command to subdue the earth.

How does the age of the earthmake it impossible for there to be a creator God?

I keep reading over at DU that God is the Devil.

Maybe they're wrong...maybe they're right.

My first question to you, if you choose to answer, is of what faith are you?

For good discussion I am of the non-denominational faith.

Secondly why does it bother you if people believe in God, that if he stated it, it is?  Your remark says, "sums these folks up", sums them up into what?.  What does that mean?

Thirdly, command  & subdue the earth?  Who is commanding the earth?  What are they "subduing"?

"In the beginning was  the word and the word was with God".  I don't believe there was any reference in that statement which had to do with the age of the earth.

I also believe that the Bible states  that we are "to test the spirits".  What doe's that statement have to do with science?

What value is science to those that believe in creation and not evolution?

So, here we have the beginnings of a good dialogue, do we not?

Thanks...NWFAN

YEs we do, but today I don't have time to discuss right now. this bumps it back up though.

I did find a bit of time.
Below is one of the key scripture that Christians use as a reason to use science.  One cannot be the earths master  and have dominion over it if one does not study the earth in detail.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

The Bible does not categorically state that the Earth is young. Nor does it categorically state that the Earth is old and been around for billions of years.

Jewish reckoning needs to be considered when the age of the earth is discussed. The reckoning is based upon divine revelation and is in the Bible to study, specifically the Old Testament. From what I understand, the Jewish Tora is an excellent source for information on this subject, as well as many other subjects of faith.
