Senate votes to fund the fence
8/3/2006 7:27 AM
The Senate did an abrupt about-face yesterday.....
....voting overwhelmingly to begin paying for 370 miles of fencing and 500 miles of vehicle barriers on the U.S.-Mexico border, just three weeks after voting against the same spending.
The amendment's sponsor said senators were so embarrassed by that July 13 vote that most felt they had to reverse course and vote for it this time -- especially after so many were on record in May voting to build the fence in the first place.

''Embarassed " by their vote?

Or our reaction to it? I bet no Senator has ever been embarrassed by his or her vote. They have only been embarrassed by the reaction of ordinary citizens to their trickery and unfaithfulness.

The scramble to "undo" the previous vote tells us our elected officials heard from the voters ...... the people who ALLOW them to work in the United States Senate. It must come as a shock to Congress that the ignorant masses are paying attention......and do know what's going on.

Go ahead and build the fence........and then we might oughta' consider puttin' Congress on the other side of it.

Well good.  It's one of the FEW times that constituents have had their concerns heard. I guess mid-term elections didn't have anything to do with it either.   For me, this falls under the category of "Better Later than Never"  and also "Too little, too late."
