Bob Barr joins the Libertarians runs for POTUS
5/14/2008 8:43 AM
There's a move to make the Libertarians more main stream. After they lose this election by being liberals in elephants clothing a 3rd party might actually have a chance. May I can vote FOR someone after all.

This cat couldn't win his own district in Georgia.......
What makes anyone think he can win a national election?
BTW:
Mr. Barr is an attorney for the ACLU. Follow the money.

The thing that I don't like about him is that he has flip-flopped on issues. He used to just about lead the War on Drugs movement. And now he's for their legalization.
If he ends up being their candidate, I still probably vote for him. But like I said in another post, there are better candidates in the Libertarian party to run for president.

Tex,
When it dawns on people how far the republicans have gotten off track they tend to have a pretty severe reaction. You will too when it finally happens to you. I mean more than in just an half hearted intellectual way. The only way to permanently break addiction is to break with everything associated to it. Jump out of the pot my friend the pot is boiling.

Got a better alternative? I'm not pro-Bob Barr at this point, but am more willing to give him a look than I would any of the other three that are running. Duane if you are waiting for the candidate that you want to be popular before you back them then you are in for a long wait. They become more than 3% candidates when people get behind them one at a time. We've been voting solely based on populatirty for the last 30 years and look where that got us.

I take your point, Bimmer.
In a nutshell........there is no one in this Presidential election for me to support. I won't support either of the Marxist candidates running as Democrats. And there sure isn't a conservative Republican. The only position Senator McCain takes which I agree with is his attitude concerning The War on Terror. As poor a choice as he is...... he's head and shoulders better than his opponents. So I will cast my presidential vote for the candidate I find least offensive, and hope our Government can be lead by folks elected to the House and Senate.
Bob Barr is a footnote to the Clinton impeachment. Save for that little episode in our country's history.......we never would have heard of him. At best.......he will siphon off some of the votes Senator McCain would have received. He isn't gonna' get any of the votes earmarked for Obama/Clinton.
I heard Mr. Paul speak in person as recently as last Saturday. He can be counted on as a solid conservative vote in the House when it is needed......but that's about all.
His position on taxes and the distribution of wealth.......I agree with and support 100%. But it won't matter if our country is overrun by ISLAMOFACIST TERRORISTS. Which is pretty much what we can look forward to if his plan for our military is implemented.

They are, in my opinion, 3% candidates because thats about all that like them, and I'm not one of them. I listened to Barr on the Hannity show, that man is not for me. I don't agree much with the Libertarian party. Duane

I totally respect that position. Voting for someone who you know has no chance, yet someone who you can stand behind, and actually agree with their positions on the issues. If more people would do that, someone with real credibility might actually have a chance one day.
I'll probably be a 3%'er also. But I do plan on waiting and seeing who the Libertarian party finally decides on.

I loved Ron Paul until it came to his war position which was so far out in Lala land that it made his other postions seem suspect as well. Bottom line on the whole war in Iraq thing is that the best way out of Irq is to win it. All the pull out strategies I have seen fso far have horrible consequence of the Untied states not to mention the human crisis it would immediately cause in the middle east.
Its like when Obama said he wants a humane military. what up with that? Is there a way to humanely kill someoen with a cruise missle or with a rifle? Humane? Is that guy on crack or what?
Back to Ron Paul. His non inteventionist foriegn policy stance sounds good until you realize that everyone else that has this policy for their countries is successfull because the United States has been doing the intervening for them. If we stop the replacement country is China, or Dubai or India................. Need I say more? The whole reason it started was that the USSR was actively trying to take over the world with it philosophy.
