Port Royal Speedway 1989 Violates Dust Act
10/2/2009 5:34 PM

Just read where in 1989 this PA speedway was shut down (for how long didn't say) because it was "found in violation of their Air Pollution Control Act".   According to the story "fugitive dust" is the problem.  Fugitive dust is dust which has left the property in which he belongs.  Fugitive dust?

If this were a law in any of  dozens of midwestern states, there are lots of small towns that would be taking farmers to court for filling their houses with dust.  The house I grew up in was on the east end of a town of 300 people.  If the wind was from the east, blowing west, we had to make sure we closed up every window, and tightly, when the farmer was cultivating his field or you'd get home and have a very dusty house.

I too grew up in one of those little towns (800) and we didn't think anything about the dust when the farmers were in the field.  Close a track cuz they kicked up dust.  Wow.  1989, they were a little ahead of Al and his global pals future plans on blaming 'people' for the cold or the hot or the rain or no rain or tornados or hurricanes or or or.  I see by my National Speedway Directory that Port Royal is still open and it is still dirt.

Port was never shut down or fined for this. If this POS Message Board would let me copy/paste my email on here from a LONG time Port Royal faithful I would explain.
