I really enjoyed this piece and would have loved to have been there for the racing but not for all the other nonsense going on around it.  Our local 1/8th mile track closed this past January after 50 years of operation in one way or another and it was a sad day indeed.  Lots of memories for me at that track both as a bracketeer back in the late 70's thru mid 80's and then as a spectator on many. many nights.

I was there, and it was a great race. It probably one of the latest ending races I had been to, around 1 in the morning. The amenities were something less than desireable. It was probably equal to or less than one of todays tird rate IHRA tracks. But because it was so close to the ocean, the performances were great.
