I live in a small town 50 miles east of an air force base. Today they were training for a very specific mission using our defunct WW II airstrip.

There were jets making bombing runs, with blackhawks flying the perimeter along with single engine spotter planes.

At one point two jets came over our town with afterburners roaring to swoop low over the airport just to turn around and do it again. This is not normal. Military jets are a common sight here but they are usually prohibited from using afterburners over populated areas.

This was not just a regular exercise. It was practice for a very specific target. I am sure that our little seaside town bears a superficial resemblance to some other town in Iran.

A woman in the supermarket parking lot was looking up at the helo circling our town and saw me looking up also and asked "what are they doing?" I said simply "Practicing for the planned attack on Iran". She seemed shocked as if the idea had not occurred to her. All she had to say was "OMG" and walked sadly into the store.
