I got home last night and saw my gas credit card bill. We decided several years ago to only buy gas on this card so we could keep track of just how much we were spending for fuel in the same way we know how much we pay for electricity and natural gas.
All I can say is cay rapppppp! Our gasoline bill exceeded what we paid on the loan ( before I paid it off) for the car and insurance. Its very close to my house payment. I dug up my gasoline bill from two years ago to compare. gasoline for this past month was $901.00 the same month 2 years ago was $323.00. If it keep up at this rate next year will be $1200 for the month and three years from now will be $1800.00 for one month. We're thinking that my daughter needs to quit her par-time job at a dress designer one town over because when I found out she was making $6.00 an hour she was actually costing us $4.00 a day to have the job as she works 4 hours per shift and does not drive ( 2 round trips for us to have her work). For her the job has educational merit but I'm not sure if it is enough.

Then whatever you do.......don't read THIS
RE: the article
I hope they do it. I hope Cap and Trade passes and electricity bills and natural gas bills double. Or triple. I hope gas and diesel hit $8-$10/gallon......or higher. Maybe then some of the voters will figger it out.
Our Government's refusal (see: the Democrat controlled Congress and their friends the enviroweenies) to allow the use of domestic resources......as well as nuclear power.....is nothing more than a thumb in the eye from the cats in charge to teach us a "lesson". A lesson for building and buying SUVs and not riding their precious lite-rail and all the other stuff they think we should do. This is payback. They're saying "won't do as you're told? How do you like these prices?"
Maybe then some of the voters will come out of their stupor long enough to figger it out and say "WHOA, dood. We made a mistake. We gotta' vote these doods outta' office. Knowwhatimsayin' dood?"
Maybe they'll finally figger out they made a mistake by falling for that steaming pile of ideological crap referred to as Global Warming. Maybe they'll figger out that.......instead of wringing their hands worrying 'bout polar bears, or baby seals, or snail darters.....we could better help ourselves and civilization by drilling for OUR OWN D@MN OIL.
Then someone can campaign on change. And The Change will be real.....and impact your purse and wallet.

They figured it out in Great Britain and threw the bast@rds out of office.
I also do not think the market will sustain such prices for very long. There is a point that eventually arrives where only the very rich will be able to afford high fuel prices such as you mention, without changing their lifestyle dramatically. And believe it or not, there aren't very many people who are very rich, as a percentage of the population of the United States.
Wonder why prices are going up on food and other consumables? A good portion of that stuff is moved by OTR trucks.
When it costs $1800 a fill-up, the truck companies are not going to foot that bill.
We are.
