Chico GSC Finale - Night 2
7/30/2006 5:45 AM
Another good night of racing, although a few too many yellows. It
evolved that Jonathan Allard had accumulated enough points thru the
season and last night, that all he needed was a start in the A-Main to
cinch the GSC "King of California" title. He did better than just
start the A, but had a few bobbles along the way and finished
9th. Big congrats to Jon Allard and the Williams Motorsports 0
Team on their winning season.
Dennis Moore, Jr. had a less than great evening. He overcooked it
in TT's and only got one lap in for 26th fast. Then broke a U
joint in the heat race and didn't make it out for the B. He said
his 'farewells' in an infield interview before the A. Says he's
talking to some other owners and may be back on the coast next
year. Best of Luck to DMJ and hope we get to see more of you out
here.
Early in the A, we couldn't get more the 3-4 laps in between
yellows. The front row was Ronnie Day and Stephen Allard, 2nd row
Sean Becker and Jon Allard. In turn 3-4 on lap one Stephen jumped
the cushion and got way out of shape. Jon was right behind and
took avoiding action over the back side of the slope. He kept it
running but the flagman threw the yellow and claimed that lap one was
completed. Huh? Anyway, that put Jon to the rear and it was
fun watching him work his way thru the back markers. Somewhere
around the 2nd restart, Becker got around Day and was able to lead the
rest of the way in convincing style. Congrats to Sean. One
of the really nice guys of the group.
A-Main Results (partial - I was taking some pix when they read off the final orider)

2. 1 Ronnie Day
3. 69 Brent Kaeding
4. 1m Stephen Allard

Note that the top 3 are all past Kings of California (BK with a total
of 12 to his credit), Becker was the 2005 King, Day in 2000.
Jon and the Zero team are headed back to Knoxville where they will run
the 360 Nationals as well as the 410's. Then work back west with
the WoO and NST.
It was also announced at Silver Dollar tonight by Guy
Stockbridge (in attendance), who is
Ronnie Day's Elite Racing car owner (as well as Jason Meyer's car
owner) and one of the new NST owners, that
the NST has just scheduled a date at Kings Speedway,
Hanford, CA, for Tues., Sept. 5, between the Calistoga race and the
Gold Cup at Chico. So that will be a busy week for all the 410
racers
